Introíbo ad altáre Dei, ad Deum qui laetíficet juventútem mean.
I will go to the altar of God, to the God who has brought me joy from my youth.
GN: 242
GT: 274
My edition takes elements from both the Vatican edition and the Graduale Novum. I agree with the editors of the Graduale Novum that the mediocriter modifies the sursum at the end of the first neume, thus creating a moderate ascent, rather than a fourth, as in the Vatican edition. Because DO is the reciting tone, the levate on introíbo serves to prepare the half step relationship with the tonic accent. Therefore, I agree with the editors of the Graduale Novum that the first three notes ought to be SOL, LA, and TI. I add the missing liquescent on juventútem as prescribed in the Graduale Novum to highlight mode VIII. I retain the other melodic elements from the Vatican edition.
